James Carter
Jimmy Carter aspired to make Government "competent and compassionate," responsive to the American people and their expectations. His achievements were notable, but in an era of rising energy costs, mounting inflation, and continuing tensions, it was impossible for his administration to meet these high expectations.
Carter, who has rarely used his full name--James Earl Carter, Jr.--was born October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. Peanut farming, talk of politics, and devotion to the Baptist faith were mainstays of his upbringing. Upon graduation in 1946 from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Carter married Rosalynn Smith. The Carters have three sons, John William (Jack), James Earl III (Chip), Donnel Jeffrey (Jeff), and a daughter, Amy Lynn.
After seven years' service as a naval officer, Carter returned to Plains. In 1962 he entered state politics, and eight years later he was elected Governor of Georgia. Among the new young southern governors, he attracted attention by emphasizing ecology, efficiency in government, and the removal of racial barriers.
Carter announced his candidacy for President in December 1974 and began a two-year campaign that gradually gained momentum. At the Democratic Convention, he was nominated on the first ballot. He chose Senator Walter F. Mondale of Minnesota as his running mate. Carter campaigned hard against President Gerald R. Ford, debating with him three times. Carter won by 297 electoral votes to 241 for Ford.
Carter worked hard to combat the continuing economic woes of inflation and unemployment. By the end of his administration, he could claim an increase of nearly eight million jobs and a decrease in the budget deficit, measured in percentage of the gross national product. Unfortunately, inflation and interest rates were at near record highs, and efforts to reduce them caused a short recession.
Carter could point to a number of achievements in domestic affairs. He dealt with the energy shortage by establishing a national energy policy and by decontrolling domestic petroleum prices to stimulate production. He prompted Government efficiency through civil service reform and proceeded with deregulation of the trucking and airline industries. He sought to improve the environment. His expansion of the national park system included protection of 103 million acres of Alaskan lands. To increase human and social services, he created the Department of Education, bolstered the Social Security system, and appointed record numbers of women, blacks, and Hispanics to Government jobs.
In foreign affairs, Carter set his own style. His championing of human rights was coldly received by the Soviet Union and some other nations. In the Middle East, through the Camp David agreement of 1978, he helped bring amity between Egypt and Israel. He succeeded in obtaining ratification of the Panama Canal treaties. Building upon the work of predecessors, he established full diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China and completed negotiation of the SALT II nuclear limitation treaty with the Soviet Union.
There were serious setbacks, however. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan caused the suspension of plans for ratification of the SALT II pact. The seizure as hostages of the U. S. embassy staff in Iran dominated the news during the last 14 months of the administration. The consequences of Iran's holding Americans captive, together with continuing inflation at home, contributed to Carter's defeat in 1980. Even then, he continued the difficult negotiations over the hostages. Iran finally released the 52 Americans the same day Carter left office.( http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/presidents/jimmycarter )

Mini Biography of Katharine Hepburn
Born May 12, 1907 in Hartford, Connecticut, Katharine Hepburn was the daughter of a doctor and a suffragette, both of whom always encouraged her to speak her mind, develop it fully, and exercise her body to its full potential. An athletic tomboy as a child, she was also very close to her brother, Tom, and was devastated at age 14 to find him dead, the apparent result of accidentally hanging himself while practicing a hanging trick their father had taught them. For many years after this, Katharine used his birthdate, November 8, as her own. She then became very shy around girls her age, and was largely schooled at home. She did attend Bryn Mawr College, however, and it was here that she decided to become an actress, appearing in many of their productions.
After graduating, she began getting small roles in plays on Broadway and elsewhere. She always attracted attention in these parts, especially for her role in "Art and Mrs. Bottle" (1931); then, she finally broke into stardom when she took the starring role of the Amazon princess Antiope in "A Warrior's Husband" (1932). The inevitable film offers followed, and after making a few screen tests, she was cast in A Bill of Divorcement (1932), opposite John Barrymore. The film was a hit, and after agreeing to her salary demands, RKO signed her to a contract. She made five films between 1932 and 1934. For her third, Morning Glory (1933) she won her first Academy Award. Her fourth, Little Women (1933) was the most successful picture of its day.
But stories were beginning to leak out of her haughty behavior off- screen and her refusal to play the Hollywood Game, always wearing slacks and no makeup, never posing for pictures or giving interviews. Audiences were shocked at her unconventional behavior instead of applauding it, and so when she returned to Broadway in 1934 to star in "The Lake", the critics panned her and the audiences, who at first bought up tickets, soon deserted her. When she returned to Hollywood, things didn't get much better. From the period 1935-1938, she had only two hits: Alice Adams (1935), which brought her her second Oscar nomination, and Stage Door (1937); the many flops included Break of Hearts (1935), Sylvia Scarlett (1935), Mary of Scotland (1936), Quality Street (1937) and the now- classic Bringing Up Baby (1938).
With so many flops, she came to be labeled "box-office poison." She decided to go back to Broadway to star in "The Philadelphia Story" (1938), and was rewarded with a smash. She quickly bought the film rights, and so was able to negotiate her way back to Hollywood on her own terms, including her choice of director and co-stars. The film version of The Philadelphia Story (1940), was a box-office hit, and Hepburn, who won her third Oscar nomination for the film, was bankable again. For her next film, Woman of the Year (1942), she was paired with Spencer Tracy, and the chemistry between them lasted for eight more films, spanning the course of 25 years, and a romance that lasted that long off-screen. (She received her fourth Oscar nomination for the film.) Their films included the very successful Adam's Rib (1949), Pat and Mike (1952), and Desk Set (1957).
With The African Queen (1951), Hepburn moved into middle-aged spinster roles, receiving her fifth Oscar nomination for the film. She played more of these types of roles throughout the 50s, and won more Oscar nominations for many of them, including her roles in Summertime (1955), The Rainmaker (1956) and Suddenly, Last Summer (1959). Her film roles became fewer and farther between in the 60s, as she devoted her time to her ailing partner Spencer Tracy. For one of her film appearances in this decade, in Long Day's Journey Into Night (1962), she received her ninth Oscar nomination. After a five-year absence from films, she then made Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), her last film with Tracy and the last film Tracy ever made; he died just weeks after finishing it. It garnered Hepburn her tenth Oscar nomination and her second win. The next year, she did The Lion in Winter (1968), which brought her her eleventh Oscar nomination and third win.
In the 70s, she turned to making made-for-TV films, with The Glass Menagerie (1973) (TV), Love Among the Ruins (1975) (TV) and The Corn Is Green (1979) (TV). She still continued to make an occasional appearance in feature films, such as Rooster Cogburn (1975), with John Wayne, and On Golden Pond (1981), with Henry Fonda. This last brought her her twelfth Oscar nomination and fourth win - the latter currently still a record for an actress.
She made more TV-films in the 80s, and wrote her autobiography, 'Me', in 1991. Her last feature film was Love Affair (1994), with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, and her last TV- film was One Christmas (1994) (TV). With her health declining she retired from public life in the mid-nineties. She died at the age of 96 at her home in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

According to Kenneth Lloyd Billingsley's book "Hollywood Party: How Communism Seduced the American Film Industry in the 1930s and 1940s", Hepburn was a leftist in her politics in the 1940s. When the Conference of Studio Unions, headed by suspected Communist Party member Herb Sorrell, launched a strike in 1946-47 against the studios and fought other unions for control over Hollywood's collective bargaining, she expressed support for him (Sorrell was kidnapped, beaten, and left for dead, during the strike, possibly by the Mafia, which up until the early 1940s, had controlled the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, which was contesting the CSU for jurisdiction over Hollywood unions.) At a Screen Writers Guild meeting during the CSU strike, She also made a speech which anti-communist, anti-CSU SAG activist Ronald Reagan recognized as being based word for word on a CSU strike bulletin. She ignored lover Spencer Tracy's admonition that actors should stay out of politics ("Remember who shot Lincoln"). Despite their family's wealth, her mother had been sympathetic to Marxism and the Soviet Union. On May 19, 1947, Hepburn addressed a Progressive Party rally at the Hollywood Legion Stadium with Progressive Party stalwart and later presidential candidate Henry Wallace, the former vice president of the U.S. who had been sacked from President Harry S. Truman's cabinet for being pro- Soviet. Wearing a red dress, Hepburn delivered a speech, written by Communist Party member and soon-to-be Hollywood Ten indictee Dalton Trumbo. When screenwriter Ring Lardner Jr. (winner of an Oscar for writing her picture Woman of the Year (1942) and one of the Hollywood Ten) was jailed, she wrote a letter of support for him. Years later, in 1964, when Lardner was trying to get Tracy to star in The Cincinnati Kid (1965), he thanked Hepburn for her support. She told him she didn't remember writing the letter and refused to talk about it.
Became very fond of Christopher Reeve, both as an actor and as a person, when he made his Broadway debut opposite her in the 1978 production of "A Matter of Gravity". Herpburn herself was surpassed by Meryl Streep, with 13 nods (11 in the Best Actress category) and two wins (one in the Best Actress category and one Best supporting actress award). While it is possible that Nicholson might equal her four Oscar acting wins, it is improbable that her record of four wins in the top category will ever be equaled, let alone surpassed.

During what is argued by film historians to be the greatest year in classic American cinema, she was a rare star who did not appear in a film in 1939. Instead, she was on stage playing Tracy Lord in "The Philadelphia Story," which proved to be her comeback after being branded as box-office poison.
Was with Spencer Tracy the night he died. According to her, he had gotten up in the middle of the night to get a glass of milk. Desperately wanted to play the role of Alma Winemiller, which was eventually played by Geraldine Page, in Summer and Smoke (1961).http://www.imdb.com

Is one of only five thespians to be nominated for acting honors by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences over five decades: (1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1980s). Only Laurence Olivier (1930s-1970s), Paul Newman (1950s, 1960s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s) and Jack Nicholson and Michael Caine(1960s-2000s) have turned the trick.
Her performance as "Eleanor of Aquitaine" in The Lion in Winter (1968) is ranked #13 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Performances of All Time (2006).
Her performance as "Tracy Lord" in The Philadelphia Story (1940) is ranked #54 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Performances of All Time (2006).
Her performance as "Rose Sayer" in The African Queen (1951) is ranked #94 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time.
Her performance as "Susan Vance" in Bringing Up Baby (1938) is ranked #21 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time.
Three films of hers are on the American Film Institute's 100 Most Inspiring Movies of All Time. They are: The African Queen (1951) at #48, On Golden Pond (1981) at #45, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) at #35.
Spoofed in the Warner Bros. animated cartoon Little Red Walking Hood (1937), in which Little Red Riding Hood speaks exactly like her.
Godmother of Stanley Kramer's daughter Katharine. She was named after Hepburn, who was directed by Kramer in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967).
Despite her success at the Oscars, she never attended an Academy Awards ceremony as a nominee. Her only appearance was at the 1974 awards to present the Irving Thalberg Award to her friend Lawrence Weingarten. When she went onstage to a standing ovation, she said "I'm living proof that a person can wait forty-one years to be unselfish.".
Thanked by Natalie Merchant in the liner notes of her album "Motherland".
Her former maid, Emma Faust Tillman, held the title of "World's Oldest Person" for only four days (January 24-28, 2007). Her four-day reign, which was certified by the Guinness World Records committee was also the shortest one on record.
In Italy, most of her films were dubbed by Wanda Tettoni and in the sixties by Anna Miserocchi. She was occasionally dubbed by Lidia Simoneschi, Andreina Pagnani and once by Rina Morelli in Desk Set (1957).
Was a close friend of actor Peter O'Toole, and it is commonly believed that his daughter, Kate O'Toole, was named after her. However, 'Siân Phillips' stated in her autobiography that their daughter was named after the title character in Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew', inspired by the line 'Kate, Kate, the prettiest Kate in Christendom'.
One of her closest friends, Canadian portrait artist Myfanwy Pavelic died on May 11, 2007, one day short of Hepburn's 100th birthday anniversary.
Thought very highly of the acting talents of Jeremy Irons and John Lithgow. She particularly disliked Meryl Streep, claiming she could recognize Streep's constant search for tactics during a performance. Hepburn also thought Glenn Close talented, but said openly Close's feet were too big for audiences to take her seriously as an actress.
The intersection of East 49th Street and Second Avenue in the borough of Manhattan in New York City was renamed "Katherine Hepburn Place" shortly after her passing. Hepburn lived in a brownstone (244 East 49th Street) which is close to the intersection.
Dropped out of the The Blue Bird (1976) before shooting began.
Was fired by the producer of Travels with My Aunt (1972) early in the filming for demanding too many script changes.
Her accumulation of 12 Oscar nominations (4 wins) was accomplished over a period of 48 years. Meryl Streep had 12 nominations (2 wins) after only 21 years (with an additional 4 nominations by 2010). Bette Davis scored 10 nominations (2 wins) over 28 years. As of 2010, Streep holds the record for her 16 nominations.
Suffered from pyrophobia (fear of fire).
Godmother of Sam Robards, son of Lauren Bacall and Jason Robards.
According to Anthony Harvey - the director of The Lion in Winter (1968) - she kept the Oscar she received for the film in a paper bag and in a cupboard for years after he'd delivered it to her.
Appointed Cynthia McFadden Executrix of her estate.
Aunt of Mundy Hepburn.
Her first name is often misspelled as Katherine, it is actually spelled Katharine with a second A. She was known for correcting those who spelled it wrong.
She followed the sickly Tracy to the kitchen but before she got there she heard a glass shatter and then a loud thud. She found Tracy dead on the floor; he had suffered a massive heart attack.
The scene in which her character falls into the canal in Summertime (1955) left her with a permanent eye infection as the water was contaminated.
Turned down the role of Kitty Foyle in Kitty Foyle: The Natural History of a Woman (1940). The part was then given to Ginger Rogers, who went on to win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance.
Survived the Great New England Hurricane of Sept. 21, 1938 while at her summer home in Fenwick, CT. Reportedly she was there considering a marriage proposal by Howard Hughes. The storm killed at least 682.
Was offered the part of Hildy Johnson in His Girl Friday (1940), but she turned it down. As a result Rosalind Russell was cast instead.
According to her friend and biographer A. Scott Berg, although she said often that Alice Adams (1935) was her favorite film role, it was actually her performance as Mary Tyrone in Long Day's Journey Into Night (1962) that she regarded as her greatest achievement in film.
Pictured on a 44¢ USA commemorative postage stamp in the Legends of Hollywood series, issued 12 May 2010.
Profiled in book "Funny Ladies" by Stephen Silverman. [1999]
Desperately wanted to play the role of Alma Winemiller, which was eventually played by Geraldine Page, in Summer and Smoke (1961).http://www.imdb.com

Manning Get Crushed Against Jets
Only two current NFL quarterbacks (counting Hollywood Brett Favre) have started more consecutive games than
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. Manning showed his toughness once again on Monday night after getting absolutely jacked up during the team's first preseason game. Manning was busted open against the Jets and was forced to leave the field after taking a hit that was painful to watch for any Giants fan. Now that we know Manning is going to be just fine, a sigh of relief can be breathed after viewing arguably the best hit of the 2010 NFL preseason thus far.www.associatedcontent.com

Reality TV villain Danielle Staub 'fired' from Real Housewives of New Jersey
Danielle Staub is the self-proclaimed 'villain' of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but not for much longer.
The reality TV star is said to have been fired from the popular show despite being the centre of plenty of drama and air time.
‘Danielle was told that she would not be returning for a third season,’ an insider told Life & Style magazine.
‘[The firing] came as a complete shock, and she thought she was definitely going to return to the successful Bravo series.’
Staub, 48, whose motto is ‘You either love me or you hate me,’ is best known for her fights with her co-stars, along with her colourful past.
One episode of the show saw Staub admit to being prosecuted in the 1980s for extortion and cocaine possession.
The mother-of-two has also featured in a sex tape, has undergone four boob jobs and is attempting to sue Real Housewives co-stars Teresa Giudice and Ashley Holmes for allegedly attacking her during an argument. http://www.dailymail.co.uk

David Hasselhoff roast
Last night Comedy Central held its annual roast, with David Hasselhoff this year’s victim, err, honoree. A host of celebrities (or is it “celebrities” – some are marginally known comedians) paid tribute to The Hoff, including Pam Anderson, Whitney Cummings, George Hamilton (uh, random), Gilbert Gottfried, Lisa Lampanelli and “Family Guy’s” Seth Macfarlane.
I will admit that I’ve never quite understood the whole “roast” thing – it seems like a competition to say meaner and dirtier things about the so-called honoree, and sometimes by people who barely know him. I can’t remember roaster Hulk Hogan and the Hoff ever appearing together before.
But what really seems off about this roast is that Hasselhoff has had so many serious and disturbing problems in recent years. The father of two is an admitted alcoholic who was accused of violent behavior toward his ex-wife when they got divorced four years ago and who has struggled to stay on the wagon. Is this really something we should be making light of?
Perhaps most disturbing, the roasters last night made lots of comments about that thoroughly messed up YouTube video that was released three years ago, in which a clearly off-the-wagon Hasselhoff is shown on the floor, shirtless, trying to eat a hamburger.
His daughter, Taylor Ann, filmed the video in an apparent attempt to get Hasselhoff to stop drinking by showing how awful he acted when intoxicated. She was heard behind the camera saying, “Tell me you are going to stop,” over and over. Not exactly funny stuff, but the roasters repeatedly referenced the clip, making it sound like just another chapter between “Baywatch” and “America’s Got Talent” in Hasselhoff’s long and weird career.
But it wasn’t. Hasselhoff didn’t seem to give up drinking – there have been repeated reports over the last year of his binges, though his reps continue to deny it. And doesn’t his mere presence at a roast put him in danger of falling off the wagon, with the adult beverages presumably flowing around him?
I think his friends at the roast could have been of greater help trying to get him help rather than milking his problems for humor. It just doesn’t seem very funny to laugh at a video where a daughter is crying out to her father to get help. (Tonifitz76)

Tila Tequila attacked
Last weekend, juggalos attacked on Tila Tequila during 11th annual Gathering of the Juggalos in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. Tila’s body was injured and her face bloodied. Here the video and photos of Tila Tequila’s alleged incident are given which obtained by TMZ.
n the video, Tila Tequila can be heard screaming “I ain’t going nowhere!” as she tries to sing on stage but that did not stop the crowd from continuing to hurl objects at her. At one point, comedian Tom Green comes on stage to try and diffuse the situation. But it didn’t work. At the ending of the performance, Tila is “singing” or is it rapping? – behind five bodyguards to avoid flying objects. Then finally, Tila left the stage, having suffered a number of cuts and bruises on her face.
A Singer-songwriter, Tila was planned to perform at the Gathering of the Juggalos, a four-day event put on by Psychopathic Records, the label for headliners Insane Clown Posse. According to TMZ, it has some rather unpleasant photos of Tila’s injuries. She had barely taken the stage when people in the audience started throwing things at her.
Tila says in an e-mail to TMZ, “I went onstage and immediately, before I even got on stage, DUDES were throwing HUGE STONE ROCKS in my face, beer bottles that slit my eye open, almost burnt my hair on fire cuz they threw fire crackers on stage, and they even took the shit out of the port-0-potty and threw shit and piss at me when I was onstage.” She also added, “These people were trying to kill me.”
She said: “These people were trying to kill me. So then after the last blow to my head with the firecracker they threw at me exploded, my bodygaurd and the other security grabbed me and ran as fast as they could to the shitty trailor. Since their security sucks, the 2 thousand people ran after us, trying to kill me. They almost got me so they finally reach the trailor, blood all over myself, cant stop bleeding, then all of a sudden, all 2 thousand people surround the trailor and busts the windows!!! Even the guys inside with me were shaking! Their hands were shaking cuz they were so scared! So 3 guys inside the trailor had to grab a table and push it over the broken windows and grabbed all the chairs they could find so hold the people from outside back. It was scary as hell!”
During the clip, you can see one fan try and get on stage … only to be denied by security. Then you can start to see various things thrown on stage by the crowd.
From the show’s organizers, no any detail has been released about this attack up to now. ABC affiliate WSIL in Illinois reports that Hardin County Sheriff Tom Seiner said the former Internet model filed a complaint about fans’ violent behavior during her performance. Once Tequila starred in the MTV reality show, “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila,” has since turned to rap and shared the bill with artists such as Lil’ Kim and Method Man. Seiner said Tequila insisted that fans pelted her with rocks and feces during her set.
TMZ has caught Tila Tequila’s incredibly horrible photos which taken after she claims that she was victim of crowd violence at a concert in Illinois.
On TMZ.com, Tequila’s performance shows video is posted. In the 12-second-long footage, the crowd lobs several objects but the extent of her injuries is unclear. A diverse range of performers including Kottonmouth Kings, Naughty by Nature, Coolio, Tone Loc and Twiztid hit the stage.
Afterward, on her Twitter page Tequila posted the alleged incident. She wrote on Saturday, “Thank you everyone for your support. The people at Juggalos behavior were disgusting and I am filing a suit against them now. Thanks 4 ur luv.” She writes, “Pretty soon the owners who run the Juggalos will be bankrupt. My attorney Alan is already on it. This is disgusting behavior from men.” ( by Vinay Sojitray )

Warning Mr. & Mrs. America!
When was the last time that any of us got a bang for our buck? The dollar is no longer worth a dollar, and that in itself is a rip-off. It doesn't go very far. I look at the bill for my home phone and find that most of it is not for calls, but various fees and taxes, which to me are a rip-off. I understand now why many people no longer maintain land lines and only use cell phones.
I think a big rip-off in New York City is abuse by private landlords who rent apartments and only take cash; they give no receipts and sign no leases. I have a case of an immigrant family who live in a 3-bedroom basement apartment; they pay $l,300 per month in rent. The owner wants them out, and he claims they only pay $l,000 per month. The family has no written proof of how much they pay -- and this owner is probably ripping off the IRS and the rest of us taxpayers.
I know of another family who has a landlord who wants to get them out; he claims that they have not paid rent in the past five months. He, too, insists they pay him in cash. In both cases, the abuse is perpetrated by an owner from the same cultural background as the tenant he's abusing. Such rip-offs are going on in all segments of our multi-cultural community. The immigrant tenants go along with the landlord's demands because they are desperate to find apartments that will take children. These new Americans are not living the American Dream, but the American Nightmare.
There is another rip-off in housing, which is legal in New York City. It's called preferential rent. Landlords in apartment houses will rent an apartment at a lower amount than the legally allotted amount. The tenant is drawn into a spider web.
The legal rent might be $l,200 per month, and instead you are given a preferential rate of $900 per month. What a bargain! When the lease expires, the landlord goes back to the legal rent. Surprise! You are trapped in the web and either you pay the higher rent or move. This happened to an elderly couple who were forced to move in with their children until they could find something affordable.
I can recall some personal rip-offs. I bought an air conditioner that didn't work quite right when it was installed. A little voice told me to send it back, but I didn't listen. I have had it for a couple of years and now I must invest in a new one.
My daughter bought a vacuum cleaner online, which died once the warranty ended. This should not happen. I remember years ago, when you made purchases you got a bang for your buck. What you bought lasted so long it became a part of your family.
I've been victimized by my own lack of vision, and wound up with some disappointing purchases. My late husband and I bought a beautiful couch, but we failed to measure the door to our apartment. This beautiful couch had to be hoisted from the street after the moving people removed my living-room window. I watched with dismay as my couch inched up three flights in full view of the entire block; everybody critiqued my purchase until it was finally safely hauled into my apartment.
We are living in an economic environment where a simple warning like "buyer beware" takes on a sinister meaning. All five senses have to be on high alert when you shop.
Before you get lost in a shopping mall, remember "Lost in Space," and the Robot who swung his metal arms shouting "Warning! Warning!" Well, I say, "Warning, Mr. and Mrs. America" -- welcome to our new dog-eat-dog world. (Pat Singer)

Gareth Bale turns from laughing stock to Tottenham Hotspur's star performer
He was once a figure of fun. Now Gareth Bale is a player England manager Fabio Capello probably wishes was born in Carlisle rather than Cardiff.
he young Welshman could not buy a win in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt; now his name is the first on manager Harry Redknapp’s teamsheet after emerging as one of the most exciting left-sided players in the Premier League.
Bale went a record 24 Premier League games for Tottenham, spanning more than two years, without being on a winning side until the match against Burnley last September.
Even Redknapp was concerned, admitting: “The record bothered me. Sir Alex Ferguson said to me last year, 'You can’t pick him, you’re mad!’ But now he looks fantastic, an amazing left-sided player.”
With England’s left-back position a problem and their midfield not blessed with a queue of worthy candidates, a player at home in defence or midfield would be ideal for South Africa.
Now 20, Bale is Wales’s youngest international and goalscorer, and Redknapp admitted: “If he was English he’d be in the England team because he could solve two problems.”
Blackburn Rovers' experienced defender Michel Salgado was often embarrassed by Bale and admitted: “He is like Vicente from Valencia. He has good pace, he drives the ball well. He is a complete player.”
Not so impressive were two penalty claims made by Bale after falling at the feet of Salgado and Morten Gamst Pedersen. “There was contact but he was diving,’’ Salgado added. ''The second one was a dive too.”
Redknapp admitted that Bale has, in the past, gone down too easily, adding: “There was a spell when he used to get a little knock and he’d lay on the floor in training every day and the physio would run on. Now he looks harder, stronger, bigger and he’s lightning quick. He’s just got everything.”
Also back in form is Roman Pavlyuchenko, who scored two more goals – he now has eight in six games – to secure the win that keeps Spurs in fourth. Jermain Defoe opened the scoring after referee Howard Webb had failed to award what looked a clear penalty for a challenge on Blackburn’s David Dunn.
Christopher Samba scored in between the Russian’s brace after Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson hobbled off with a torn calf muscle which will rule him out for “several weeks” according to Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce.( John Ley at White Hart Lane )

PGA Championship begins after fog delay
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Golfers finally got on the course after a three-hour delay at the PGA Championship, only to have fog bring play to a halt once again.
What a fittingly odd start to the final major in what's become the strangest of seasons.
Tee times were pushed back three hours 10 minutes because of fog so soupy it obscured Lake Michigan, and Tiger Woods and other players could do little but wait it out on the driving range and putting green. A handful of groups made it on the course before play was halted again because of poor visibility on No. 3, but players stayed on the course and the second delay lasted only six minutes.
The PGA is known for producing some unexpected winners, but it's even more wide open than usual this year. Woods' game is as big a mess as his personal life, Phil Mickelson has forsaken his beloved burgers for broccoli because of arthritis and Lee Westwood is at home with a calf injury. With five of the last six majors won by first-timers, including the U.S. Open (Graeme McDowell) and the British Open (Louis Oosthuizen), just about every guy in the locker-room is thinking this could be his week.
"This is probably as wide open a major as we've seen in a long time," Steve Stricker said. "I think we all have a sense that if you can play well and get it going, then you have that great opportunity to win here."
Mike Weir of Bright's Grove, Ont., and Calgary's Stephen Ames won't tee off until late in the afternoon.
Woods, who needs a good week to hang onto his No. 1 ranking and end the hubbub over his Ryder Cup status, went off in a group with Vijay Singh, the winner the last time the PGA was at Whistling Straits, and defending champion Y.E. Yang.
It was Yang's victory at last year's PGA that was the first sign of trouble for Woods, though no one could have imagined this dramatic of a downfall. Woods hasn't come close to winning a tournament since running over that fire hydrant during U.S. Thanksgiving, unleashing a firestorm of tawdry details about his rampant infidelities. While his personal life is beginning to "normalize," his game is doing the exact opposite. ( Nancy Armour, The Associated Press )

JetBlue's Steven Slater
I should be writing this post for my colleagues over at the Life at Work Desk here at BNET. But having done some traveling this weekend I wanted to share with you a thought about the career suicide just committed by former JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater.
Slater has begun his 15 minutes of fame. He is the fellow who cursed back at a F-bomb flinging passenger, grabbed a couple of beers from the galley, and slid his way into unemployment down an emergency slide he deployed from the parked plane at JFK.
We all applauded when we read this take-this-job-and-shove-it story because we’ve all been there, pushed over the line by a belligerent boss, cussin’ customer or pushy peer. So when I flew AirTran this weekend from Boston to Atlanta, I quizzed some of the flight attendants about Mr. Slater’s actions.
“Bet you’ve wanted to do that a few times,” I asked a female attendant as I stood in line during boarding. “That guy’s an idiot,” she responded. I was puzzled, but moved to my seat. Once in flight, I approached a second flight attendant.
“Oh yeah, we all want to do that sometimes,” he said. “But we don’t” He went on to say he didn’t think Mr. Slater’s actions were very professional.
“What do you mean professional?” I countered. He was quitting his job in a blaze of glory.
“He was endangering lives” by deploying the slide with ground crews down below, the man responded.
And then it hit me. If even flight attendants don’t see the humor in their former colleague’s actions, what potential employer is going to overlook the fact that Slater, in his mad rush to freedom, endangered lives to flatter his own ego? Who is going to hire someone with so little judgment? This young man has likely written himself out of any serious employment for years to come.
All of this to say that the next time you reach a breaking point, take some deep breaths and go for a walk. Think of Steven Slater not as someone to emulate, but as someone who, in a few seconds of stupidity, committed career suicide.( Sean Silverthorne )

Teri Hatcher
Teri Lynn Hatcher (born December 8, 1964) is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Susan Mayer in "Desperate Housewives", Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and as Paris Carver in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role as Susan Mayer on the television series Desperate Housewives in 2005. In the same year she won the Screen Actor's Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Comedy Series and was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, but lost out to fellow cast member and close friend, Felicity Huffman.
Early life
Hatcher was born in Palo Alto, California, the daughter of Esther (née Beshur), a computer programmer who worked for Lockheed Martin, and Owen W. Hatcher, a nuclear physicist and electrical engineer.[1] Hatcher's father is of Welsh and Choctaw Native American descent, and her mother is of half Syrian and half French/German descent.[1] Hatcher grew up in Sunnyvale, California.[1]Teri Hatcher took ballet lessons at the San Juan School of Dance in Los Altos. Her big debut was as the lead flying monkey in the "Wiz Of Oz." An only child, she attended Mango Junior High (now Sunnyvale Middle School), Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and De Anza College in Cupertino. As an undergraduate she studied mathematics and engineering.
In March 2006, Hatcher revealed to Vanity Fair that she was sexually abused from the age of five by Richard Hayes Stone, an uncle by marriage who was later divorced by Hatcher's aunt. Her parents, she said, were unaware of the abuse at the time. In 2002, she assisted Santa Clara County prosecutors with their indictment of Stone for a more recent molestation that led his female victim to commit suicide at the age of 14. Stone pleaded guilty to four counts of child molestation and was sentenced to 14 years in prison. In an interview appearing in Vanity Fair, Hatcher said she told the prosecutors about her own abuse because she was haunted by thoughts of the 14-year-old girl who shot herself, and feared Stone might escape conviction. Stone died of colon cancer on August 19, 2008, having served six years of his sentence.
Career
Hatcher studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater. One of her early jobs (in 1984) was as an NFL cheerleader with the San Francisco 49ers. From September 1985 to May 1986, she joined the cast of the TV series The Love Boat, playing the role of "Amy", one of the "Mermaid" showgirls. From 1986 to 1989 she appeared in the recurring role of "Penny Parker" opposite Richard Dean Anderson's eponymous hero on the TV series MacGyver. In 1988, she made a guest appearance in Star Trek: The Next Generation as Lt. Robinson. In 1989 she guest starred in an episode of Quantum Leap titled "Star Crossed".
Hatcher with her Lois & Clark co-star Dean Cain rehearsing for the 45th Emmy Awards on 19 September 1993
Hatcher landed a starring role of Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane (opposite Dean Cain) in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997. At the height of the show's popularity in 1995, a picture of Hatcher wrapped in a Superman cape was reportedly downloaded on the Internet 20,000 times. "It's a great shot," she told Entertainment Weekly. "Not so much because it's me. It's just cool-looking."
In the New adventures of Superman, the cast was worried that she would be taller than superman in heels as she was 5 foot 8.5 and the Dean Cain was 5'10 and she would have "towered" him in heels, but everything was worked out well. Hatcher beat out Monica Bellucci for the role of Paris Carver in the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. Hatcher was three months pregnant at the filming's start, by her then-husband, Jon Tenney. An ABC publicist said the pregnancy did not affect the production schedule.[8] Hatcher later regretted playing Paris Carver, saying, "It's such an artificial kind of character to be playing that you don't get any special satisfaction from it. She was voted the world's sexiest woman by readers of popular men's magazine FHM in the same year. Hatcher also appeared in films such as Spy Kids (2001), Dead in the Water (1991), 2 Days in the Valley (1996) and The Cool Surface (1994). She co-starred with Alec Baldwin in Heaven's Prisoners (1996), which failed at the box office. ABC cancelled Lois & Clark in 1997.

Hatcher made a much-discussed guest appearance on an episode of Seinfeld, in which her character, Sidra, breaks up with Jerry because she discovers Jerry was trying to have Elaine surreptitiously determine whether Sidra had breast implants.
Hatcher appeared in a series of Radio Shack television commercials alongside NFL player Howie Long. They remain close friends and together have bought farm land on the outskirts of Los Angeles, with the intent of eventually raising endangered species.
Hatcher hosted NBC's Saturday Night Live in 1996. She beat out four other actresses for one of the lead role on ABC's Desperate Housewives, on which she stars as Susan Mayer, a role for which she won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Golden Globe Award in January 2005.[1] In 2005, Hatcher won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award in the same category. In July 2005, she was nominated for an Emmy Award as Best Actress in a Comedy Series for the role, along with co-stars Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman.
As of April 2006, Hatcher is one of the highest paid television actresses in the United States. She reportedly earns $285,000 per episode of Desperate Housewives. In May 2006, she released her first book, Burnt Toast: And Other Philosophies of Life.
Hatcher performs The Beatles song "Good Night" on the 2006 charity album Unexpected Dreams – Songs From the Stars.
On 9 April 2008, Hatcher appeared on Idol Gives Back, singing Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats".
Personal life
Hatcher married Marcus Leithold on 4 June 1988; they divorced the following year. On 27 May 1994, she married actor Jon Tenney; they had a daughter, Emerson Rose, on 10 November 1997, and divorced in March 2003. Hatcher dated Stephen Kay, who played Reginald, the Quartermaines' butler, on General Hospital.[12] They have now broken up.[citation needed]
In June 2007, Hatcher appeared on The Paul O'Grady Show, where she revealed she writes a column in Glamour.
In February 2008, Hydroderm sued Hatcher for breach of contract, claiming she had promoted the beauty products of other companies. She insisted her promotion of CityLips' lip plumper did not affect the Hydroderm deal. Her attorney Alan Wertheimer called the lawsuit an "unjustified and public assault" on her "good name, reputation and celebrity." Her lawyer persuaded a judge in Los Angeles to move the case to arbitration.
On 13 September, 2009, she finished the Malibu Triathlon (0.5 mi/0.80 km ocean swim, 18 mi/29 km out-and-back bike course, and 4 mi/6.4 km out-and-back run course) in 2h 6mn 50.7s.

Yoko Ono
Yoko Ono (オノ・ヨーコ Ono Yōko?, kanji: 小野洋子; born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese-American artist, musician, author and peace activist, also known for her marriage to John Lennon and her groundbreaking work in avant-garde art, music and filmmaking. Ono brought feminism to the forefront through her music, and is also considered a pioneer and major influence of the 1970s new wave genre. She is a supporter of gay rights[1] and is known for her philanthropic contributions to the arts, peace and AIDS outreach programs.
Early life
Yoko Ono was born to mother Isoko Ono, the granddaughter of Zenjiro Yasuda of the Yasuda banking family, and to father Yeisuke Ono who was a descendant of an Emperor of Japan.[2] Two weeks before she was born, her father was transferred to San Francisco. The rest of the family followed soon after. In 1937, her father was transferred back to Japan and Ono was enrolled at Tokyo's Gakushuin, one of the most exclusive schools in Japan, which, before World War II, was open only to the Japanese imperial family and aristocrats of the House of Peers.
In 1940, the family moved to New York City, where Ono's father was working. In 1941, her father was transferred to Hanoi and the family returned to Japan. Ono was then enrolled in an exclusive Christian primary school run by the Mitsui family. She remained in Tokyo through the great fire-bombing of March 9, 1945. During the fire-bombing, she was sheltered with other members of her family in a special bunker in the Azabu district of Tokyo, far from the heavy bombing. After the bombing, Ono went to the Karuizawa mountain resort with members of her family. The younger members of the imperial family were sent to the same resort area.
Ono has said that she and her family were forced to beg for food while pulling their belongings in a wheelbarrow; and it was during this period in her life that Ono says she developed her "aggressive" attitude and understanding of "outsider" status when children taunted her and her brother, who were once well-to-do. Other stories have her mother bringing a large number of goods with them to the countryside which they bartered for food. One often quoted story has her mother bartering a German-made sewing machine for sixty kilograms of rice with which to feed the family. Her father remained in the city and, unbeknownst to them, was believed to have been eventually incarcerated in a prisoner of war camp in China. In an interview by Democracy Now's Amy Goodman on October 16, 2007, Ono explained, "He was in French Indochina which is Vietnam actually... in Saigon. He was in a concentration camp."
By April 1946, the Peers' school was reopened and Ono was enrolled. The school, located near the imperial palace, had not been damaged by the war. She graduated in 1951 and was accepted into the philosophy program of Gakushuin University, the first woman ever to be accepted into that department of the exclusive university. However, after two semesters, she left the school.[3]
Life with John Lennon
John Lennon and Yoko Ono (1969).
Ono first met John Lennon when he visited a preview of an exhibition of Ono's at the Indica Gallery in London on November 9, 1966. Lennon's first personal encounter with Ono involved her passing him a card that read simply "Breathe". However, according to the Japan Society press release for the "Y E S YOKO ONO" retrospective exhibition from 2000, the Ono work which Lennon saw at the Indica Gallery show in 1966 that awakened him to her was "Ceiling Painting," described as follows: "The viewer is invited to climb a white ladder, where at the top a magnifying glass, attached by a chain, hangs from a frame on the ceiling. The viewer uses the reading glass to discover a block letter "instruction" beneath the framed sheet of glass – it says "Y E S." It was through this work that Ono met her third husband and longtime collaborator, John Lennon."
Another work displayed a real apple with a card reading "APPLE." When John was told that the price of the apple was £200 (approximately £2300 or $4600 in 2007 money), he later reported that he thought "This is a joke, this is pretty funny".[11] Another display was a white board with nails in it with a sign inviting visitors to hammer a nail into its surface. Since the show was not beginning until the following day, Ono refused to allow Lennon to hammer in a nail. The gallery owner whisked her away, saying, "Don't you know who that is? He's a millionaire!" Upon returning to John, she said he could hammer in a nail for five shillings. Lennon replied, "I'll give you an imaginary five shillings if you let me hammer in an imaginary nail".[12]
Lennon referred to Ono in many of his songs. While still a Beatle he wrote "The Ballad of John and Yoko", and he alluded to her indirectly in "Julia", a song dedicated to his mother, with the lyrics: "Ocean child calls me, so I sing a song of love" (The kanji 洋子 ("Yoko") means "ocean child").
Ono and Lennon collaborated on many albums, beginning in 1968 when Lennon was still a Beatle, with Unfinished Music No.1: Two Virgins, an album of experimental and difficult electronic music. That same year, the couple contributed an experimental piece to The White Album called "Revolution 9". Ono also contributed backing vocals (on "Birthday"), and one line of lead vocals (on "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill") to The White Album. Many of the couple's later albums were released under the name the Plastic Ono Band. The couple also appeared together at concerts. When Lennon was invited to play with Frank Zappa at the Fillmore on June 5, 1971, Ono joined in as well.
In 1969, the Plastic Ono Band's first album, Live Peace in Toronto 1969, was recorded during the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival Festival. In addition to Lennon and Ono, this first incarnation of the group consisted of guitarist Eric Clapton, bass player Klaus Voormann, and drummer Alan White. The first half of their performance consisted of rock standards, and during the second half, Ono took the microphone and along with the band performed an avant garde set, ending with music that consisted mainly of feedback, while Ono screamed and sang.[13]
In November 1968 Yoko miscarried a male child which they named John Ono Lennon II. Ono and Lennon married on March 20, 1969 in Gibraltar.
Lennon and Yoko recording "Give Peace a Chance".
Ono released her first solo album, Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band in 1970, as a companion piece to Lennon's better-known John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. The two albums have almost identical covers: Ono's featured a photo of her leaning on Lennon, and Lennon's had a photo of him leaning on Ono. Her album included raw and quite harsh vocals that were possibly influenced by Japanese opera, but bear much in common with sounds in nature (especially those made by animals) and free jazz techniques used by wind and brass players. The performers included Ornette Coleman and other renowned free jazz performers. The personnel was supplemented by John Lennon, Ringo Starr and minor performers. Some songs consisted of wordless vocalizations, in a style that would influence Meredith Monk, and other musical artists who have used screams and vocal noise in lieu of words. The album peaked at #183 on the US charts.
In 1971, Ono released Fly – a double album. On this release Ono explored slightly more conventional psychedelic rock with tracks like "Midsummer New York" and "Mind Train", in addition to a number of Fluxus experiments. She also received minor airplay with the ballad "Mrs. Lennon". Perhaps the most famous track from the album is "Don't Worry, Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking For Her Hand In The Snow)", an ode to Ono's kidnapped daughter.
After the Beatles disbanded, Lennon and Ono cohabited in London and then in New York. Their relationship was very strained as Lennon faced near-certain deportation from the United States based on the British drug charges and Ono was separated from her daughter, who would have remained behind if Ono followed Lennon back to England. The couple separated in 1973 and the two began living separate lives, Ono pursuing her career in New York and Lennon living in Los Angeles with personal assistant May Pang in a period commonly referred to as his "lost weekend".
In 1975, the couple reconciled. Their son, Sean, was born on Lennon's 35th birthday, October 9, 1975. After Sean's birth, the couple lived in relative seclusion at the Dakota in New York. John Lennon retired from music to become a househusband caring for their child, until shortly before his murder in December 1980, which Ono witnessed at close range. Ono has stated that the couple were thinking about going out to dinner (after spending several hours in a recording studio), but were returning to their apartment instead, because John wanted to see Sean before he was put to bed.[14] Following the murder, she went into complete seclusion for an extended period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoko_Ono
Early life
Yoko Ono was born to mother Isoko Ono, the granddaughter of Zenjiro Yasuda of the Yasuda banking family, and to father Yeisuke Ono who was a descendant of an Emperor of Japan.[2] Two weeks before she was born, her father was transferred to San Francisco.
Julia Roberts Hinduism
Julia Roberts wants to age gracefully, but there's another reason why she'll say no to plastic surgery – especially on her face.
"I want my kids to know when I'm pissed, when I'm happy and when I'm confounded," the actress, 42, and new face of Lancome, tells Elle in its September issue. "Your face tells a story and it shouldn't be a story about your drive to the doctor's office."
Roberts says she simply doesn't understand why some would go to all lengths to hold onto their youth.
"It's unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don't even give themselves a chance to see what they'll look like as older persons. I want to have some idea of what I'll look like before I start cleaning the slates," she says.
For now, the Eat Pray Love star is embracing her natural good looks, which landed her on PEOPLE's 2010 Most Beautiful issue cover for the fourth time. Her only fears? They're "more parental."
"You make these people and you love them and you want them around for a thousand years," she says about her three kids – 3-year-old Henry and 5-year-old twins Phinnaeus and Hazel – with cameraman Danny Moder. "And you want to be there for them for a thousand years."
The entire Roberts-Moder family, she reveals, goes to temple together to "chant and pray and celebrate. I'm definitely a practicing Hindu," says Roberts, who grew up with a Catholic mother and Baptist father.
And since in Hindu cosmology souls can be reincarnated in other bodies, where does she see herself in the next life? "Golly, I've been so spoiled with my friends and family in this life," she says. "Next time I want to be just something quiet and supporting." http://www.people.com

MTV’s VMA Nominations
Getting worked up over this year’s just-announced MTV Video Music Award nominations is kind of like being mad at the WWE for not honoring the traditions of Greco-Roman wrestling; it just is what it is, kids. And what it is in 2010 is pretty much The Gaga Sweeps Show.
Meaning, essentially, that just about anyone who is not the thirteen-times-nominated Lady is a tramp. As in hobo. As in sad clown who will be going home with no Moon Men—or at least not great gobby handfuls of them, as Gaga is nearly guaranteed to do. (One possible exception? Eminem. Mr. Mathers snagged eight noms altogether, and will undoubtedly win several; MTV loves a comeback kid).
As much as Gaga may have single-handed saved both the music industry and the production of grey Lady Godiva wigs, it is lovely to see a little attention paid to women who weren’t born Stefani Germanotta—including Florence and the Machine, Nicki Minaj (though for the wrong song), and Janelle Monae. And Dan Black, you kill it with that GarageBand “Umbrella” beat! Twice!
But we digress: As odd and unreflective of other industry awards shows as the VMAs may be, there are still a few shockers in today’s announcement; below, a (very subjective) top five:
1. Total shut-out for the Black Eyed Peas. Granted, many of their gigantor anthems (“Boom Boom Pow,” “I Gotta Feeling” etc.) were released last year, beginning in early spring—the Awards’ eligibility cut-off is supposedly mid-June—but they didn’t make the 2009 cut for nominees either, and the hits kept rolling through fall. Regardless of how you feel about them, is there a better definition of an MTV artist than these poly-ethnic, platinum-minting pop dingleballs? Shouldn’t they be in here somewhere?
2. All the love for 30 Seconds to Mars. We realize that Jared Leto’s angst-monkey rock band has many legitimate fans, and that the world’s boner for Jordan Catalano is quite possibly eternal. But noms for both Video of the Year and Best Rock Video feels something like overkill. Is the rock-video bucket so gutted this year that no one else could fill out at least one of these spots? Rise Against? Muse? the Black Keys? Vampire Weekend? LCD Soundsystem? Cage the Elephant? Also, dudes: the Flaming Lips got to your Critical Mass bike idea first. And way nakeder.
3. The distinct lack of love for Rihanna and Justin Bieber. Despite a five-week run at the no. 1 Billboard spot, and director Melina Matsoukas’ excellent appropriation of “Buffalo Stance” wild style, Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” gets only one paltry nom, for Best Editing. As for the Biebs, his videos may not necessarily be paragons of small-screen creativity, but the VMAs are (super-late memo to Kanye!) essentially popularity contests connected only tangentially to artistic merit. In that case, the hair-swoopy heartbeat of ten million tweens seems to have earned more than a single Best New Artist nod for “Baby.”
4. The Lady Gaga/Beyonce collaboration about cellular-based communication that is not “Telephone,” a.k.a. “Video Phone,” has nearly as many major nods as “Telephone” itself—Best Collaboration, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Art Direction—while having peaked on Billboard’s Hot 100 at no. 65. Yeah, I know: it’s not the BMAs. And I could talk about Ms. Knowles’ bananas costume switchups in this clip all day long. But seriously, did we have to double down so hard? Would one big nom—go ahead, give the stylist a Nobel prize for Quantam Booty Physics and Special Aspects in Bettie Page Revivalism—have been enough? Especially when…
5. … So many others have been received no noms at all. Whether or not you enjoy them, the following artists, to varying degrees, seemed to have earned a place on the nominees list, but are nowhere to be found: Miley Cyrus (no love for “Party in the USA,” “The Climb,” or “Can’t Be Tamed”?); Adam Lambert (he grew a Wrath of Khan ponytail for you people!); Taio Cruz; Owl City (still hate him, but he seems to have earned it, no?); Mike Posner; Travie McCoy; and unequaled Rube Goldberg maestros OK Go.
