Striker Fernando Torres hopes his club soon have new owners. He believes the new owners will bring big changes to his team more competitive.
Since the sale by George Gillett and Tom Hicks in April last, "the Reds" never found a buyer. British media had indeed preached a businessman from Hong Kong, Kenny Huang, and a consortium led by John Kirdi interested in making an investment. However, it is like being the wind and because the fact Liverpool are still no man's land.
"It is important for Liverpool to soon have new owners who can make us more competitive," explained Torres told Radio Station Cadane Cope.
"We are not far behind. Last season was a terrible season for us. However, we are only left four seasons from Manchester United. Hopefully we can find a consortium that could buy the club and make Liverpool can compete financially with Chelsea and Manchester United," explained Torres.
Last season, Torres and his colleagues should be kicked from "The Big Four" after finishing seventh in the rankings. Liverpool shattered melting can not be denied because of the financial crisis that occurred in the body of the club.
Torres was disappointed and consider joining Manchester City or Chelsea. However, he eventually thought better of it and chose to survive. He believes his team can get out of the crisis. "After that, what can we do this season. Liverpool's Steven Gerrard was able to maintain, it is very important. It's still a great team," explained Torres.
He added, "This season is a difficult situation because we are not in the Champions League. However, we remain the biggest clubs in the English League and play at Anfield every week is an honor. That's how I see the situation now. I want to have a target and could bring Liverpool to where they are appropriate. ." www.kompas.com
